0621 Annex A Communications Practice Test

In field communications, the item used to record and relay message traffic is the tactical field message book. It’s a compact bound notebook designed to log key header information (who the message is to and from, time, date, precedence, routing, handling instructions) and the text of the message itself, ensuring a clear, auditable record in stressful conditions. In many configurations, this book is color-coded for quick identification, and the yellow cover has earned the nickname Yellow Canary. That’s why this option is the tactical field message book.

The other choices refer to power sources used to operate radios and equipment (different types of batteries), which are not used for recording or handling messages.
